SIMPLE SEASONED TURNIP “FRIES”

This recipe is made for when you are craving a salty baked dinner treat, but you want something a little less starchy and full of flavor! These turnip "fries" are SUPER easy to make and only require 4 ingredients!


SERVES 2


INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 extra large turnip, peeled and cut into strips

  • 1 tsp avocado or melted coconut oil

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt

  • Pinch ground black pepper, optional


DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.

  2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper or aluminum foil.

  3. In a bowl add the cut turnips. Next add the oil, seasoning, salt and pepper.

  4. Use your hand to mix the fries, coating well in the oil. Dump the fries onto your prepared sheet pan. Be sure to spread them apart without overlapping for optimal baking and crispness. Crowded fries can lead to sogginess and uneven baking.

  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the fries have softened and are crispy on the edges.

  6. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or ketchup. (We love using the sugar free options by Primal Kitchen.)
