If this recipe seems intimidating to you, please don't worry. The most prep of this recipe is in the making of the "browned" butter, which is as easy as dropping a stick of grass-fed butter into a small sauce pan and letting the heat of the burner do the rest of the work! The caramelized/nutty notes of the butter add a richness, natural sweetness, and depth to any dish, especially coffee!

Keto Coffee Recipe Serves 1/Browned Butter makes 1/2 cup
INGREDIENTS:
Browned Butter:
1 stick grass-finished butter (your choice of salted or unsalted but I always go salted for flavor)
Keto Coffee:
8-10 ounces brewed hot coffee
1 tsp browned butter (or more if desired)
1/4 cup unsweetened cashew or almond milk (optional, but I like the extra creamy froth it provides)
DIRECTIONS:
Browned Butter:
In a small sauce pot, add 1 stick of organic, grass-finished butter. (You get the most concentrated flavor from grass-finished butter, and you can actually see the golden color difference.)
Turn the heat to medium-high. Bring the butter to a boil.
Once the butter is boiling, reduce heat to a simmer and let the butter "cook" for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The butter will foam and this is normal.
Once the foam of the butter dissipates and the steam begins to lessen, your butter volume has begun to reduce, so be sure to watch as the butter will brown very quickly after this point.
The butter will begin to make a crackle sound and brown bits of butter will begin to form at the bottom of the pan, turning the butter to a beautiful golden/light brown hue. It will also smell very fragrant and nutty.
Remove the butter from the heat immediately at this point to prevent burning, and carefully pour the liquid into a glass container. Let the butter come to room temperature before storing in a closed container in the refrigerator.
Keto Coffee:
Brew 8-10 ounces of your favorite coffee.
In a mug, add the nut milk and microwave for 30 seconds until warm.
Add the warmed milk, coffee, and browned butter to a blender. Add the lid and blend on medium speed for about 15 seconds, until coffee is hot and frothy. (Alternatively if you do not have a blender, you can add half of the coffee to the milk in the mug with the butter and froth with a hand mixer. Be sure to leave enough room for the liquid to move in the mug with the frother on. Then top with the rest of the brewed coffee.)
Sip and enjoy!
