I’ve been making this brew in my French press since 2018. Since it is one of my absolute favorite infusions of coffee, I figured I would share this super simple recipe with you today. The lavender is such a nice compliment and doesn't overwhelm the flavors of the coffee. It's a blend of coffee I found on one of my travels to Charleston, South Carolina years ago.
If you can’t find dried culinary lavender locally, you can purchase it from numerous places online. And, if you are sensitive to caffeine but not wanting to give up your daily morning joe, I truly can’t recommend Purity Coffee enough, as I have used both their regular and Swiss filtered decaf coffee varieties daily for years without negative impacts on my energy or mood. Serves 1
INGREDIENTS:
10-12 ounces hot water
2 tbsp coffee grinds
1/2 tsp dried culinary lavender
Pinch of sea salt
1 tsp coconut oil
1/4 cup unsweetened almond or cashew milk, optional
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a French press or drip coffee maker, add the coffee, pinch of sea salt, and lavender. If you are making in the French press (my prefer method of coffee infusions), add the hot water and let it steep to your desired strength, anywhere from 4-7 minutes. (I typically land in the middle at around 5 minutes.)
2. Pour the brewed coffee into a blender and add the coconut oil and milk (if using). Blend for 15 seconds until frothy.
Pour into your favorite mug.
